Enhance Your Programming Interview Skills

Do you get stuck on technical programming interview questions and cannot advance further? Depending upon on how much is your educational qualification and the knowledge associated with it, internships can be rough to get through. There are some people whose knowledge and experience outdo their undergraduate education before entering university and likely to get internships in their first two years. Similarly, there are some people who are most likely successful in getting internships in their junior year that front load their CS classes and practice programming with a desire.
The challenge to get selected for a job is sometimes due to interview skills or sometimes due to technical skills. For instance, juniors are expected to level a binary tree into a linked list, if they have completed their CS courses early or on-time. Hence, it is recommended that you study essential computer science concepts and practice doing programs for a few hundred hours. If you are able to program for four hours a day for six days a week, it will reap results for you all your life.

1. Learn how to implement linked lists, doubly linked lists, binary search trees, tries, heaps, and hash trees. Learn the fundamental data structures.

2. Learn class design and fundamental data organization. Be able to design data structures and classes to work as nodes in trees and tries; to summarize details about people, including addresses and phone numbers; to exhibit polymorphism and sub-classing, such as ‘shape’ specific to ’2d’ and ’3d’ and further dedicated to various kinds of shapes, with over-ridable functions to implement width, height, area, and so on. Learn about the dissimilarity between classes and interfaces. Learn about polymorphism of both intrinsic and structured data types.

3. Learn important algorithms and techniques: Sort, selection, recursion, iteration, and mapping between recursion and iteration for resolving common problems.

4. Implement all of the structures, classes, and algorithms mentioned above from beginning. Then, learn any intrinsic functions which support them by heart.

5. Get a good book like Cormen’s Introduction to Algorithms. Read the sections applicable to the knowledge mentioned above. Try some of the problems in each section. They are difficult and time consuming, but they are great to practice.

Google just combined Chrome, YouTube, and Search into a single messaging app called Spaces

With Google+ dying a slow death, Google has been looking for other ways to help users share content online. Its latest attempt is a new standalone app for group discussions on specific topics called Spaces.
It’s simple enough: you create a ‘Space’ dedicated to a particular interest, and then invite your friends to discuss. That wouldn’t be anything special, except that YouTube, Chrome and Google Search are built right into the app; it means you don’t have to endlessly switch between apps to find and view shared content.

The IMEI, or International Mobile Station Equipment Identity, is a unique number which is associated with your phone. The IMEI number becomes very important in the emergency situations as it’s the fingerprint of your phone. Here, I’ll be telling you various methods to find your phone’s IMEI number, even if it’s lost.
    he IMEI number, also known as MEID number, acts your phone’s unique identifier. As no two devices have the same IMEI or MEID number, it becomes the best tool to track lost phones.
This unique number is assigned to every new phone and it’s actually associated with the SIM card slot. So, if you are using a dual-SIM device, your phone will have two IMEI numbers.

Also, you can just USSD code and dial *#06#, the IMEI will be displayed instantly on the screen.

Method 2: Looking in Settings to find IMEI number
You can also find the IMEI number of your Android phone by navigating into Settings> About Phone> Status> IMEI Information.
iPhone users can find the IMEI number by navigating into Settings> General> About> IMEI. 

Method 3: How to find IMEI number if you’ve lost the phone
Although you can see it’s very easy to find IMEI number of your phone, but what if you lost it? You can always check your retail box and bill because both have the IMEI number written on them.
In the extreme cases if an Android user lost his retail box and bills too, he/she can try this method.
First sign in to the Google Dashboard using your Google account which is linked to the lost Android phone. Now just click the Android logo and it will show you all the devices connected to that Google account along worth their IMEI numbers.

HORNET is New Tor-like Anonymity Network With Superfast Speeds

The Deep Web is a place that is hidden from the ordinary world because the browsers used to access the Deep Web, continuously encrypt user data. Due to this constant data encryption, the browsing speeds are slow. Our beloved Tor network has more than 2 million daily users that slow down its performance. To counter this speed issue, five researchers have developed a new Tor-style anonymity network called HORNET: High-Speed Onion Routing at Network Layer.

           Compared to anonymity networks like Tor, the HORNET system is more resistant to attacks and it delivers faster node speeds. The researcher team writes, “unlike other onion routing implementations, HORNET routers do not keep per-flow state or perform computationally expensive operations for data forwarding, allowing the system to scale as new clients are added.”  

This paper “Hornet: High-Speed Onion Routing at Network Layer” was written by researchers Chen Chen of Carnegie Mellon University, along with David Barrera, Enrico Asoni, and Adrian Perrig of Zurich’s Federal Institute of Technology, and George Danezis from University College of London. Here’s the Research paper.

To achieve speeds higher than Tor, HORNET doesn’t encrypt data as often- instead it encrypts just the personal stuff. In Tor, anonymity comes at the price of speed. To provide anonymity, Tor takes data and passes it through series of computers before the final destination. Each time, it passes from one computer to the other, the encryption exists and IP addresses change. Thus, it forms a time-taking multilayer network (hence “The Onion Router”).Onion routing is a technique for anonymous communication over a computer network. In an onion network, messages are encapsulated in layers of encryption, analogous to layers of an onion.
HORNET nodes process the anonymous traffic at more than 93Gb/s speed.
The basic architecture of Tor and HORNET is same(onion routing). HORNET creates an encryption key set along with the routing info (connection state) on your system. Thus, the intermediate nodes don’t need to build this information each time, as these keys and connection state info is carried within packet headers (anonymous header or AHDR).

According to the research paper, it makes the whole system more secure as the other intermediate computers don’t waste time playing with the sender’s and receiver’s packets. Thus, the whole process becomes more fast and secure.
It is worth mentioning that HORNET is not yet tested at a large scale, it’s just these 5 researchers. Thus, extensive peer review is needed to adopt systems like HORNET.

Italian Military Adopts Open Source LibreOffice Opening a Way towards OpenSource and saves millions $$$

As a result of last year’s announcement that Italian Ministry of Defence will ditch Microsoft’s Office suite and adopt open source LibreOffice, a saving of up to 29 million is expected over the next few years. This migration is done under a project dubbed LibreDifesa that has brought LibreOffice to about 5,000 workstations.

Now, the Italian ministry has announced that they are expecting to save up to 29 million Euro with this move favoring open source. This financial effect will be seen over the few upcoming years.

After their current Microsoft Office licenses will expire, the Ministry of Defense expects to have 75,000 LibreOffice installations by 2017, which is 70% of the total users. By the year 2020, this number is expected to increase by an additional 25,000.
Till now, 5,000 systems migrated from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice

Under this migration project dubbed LibreDifesa, so far, about 5,000 workstations have been migrated to LibreOffice.

LibreItalia is also working on an e-learning course that will teach the Italian military staff regarding the usage of LibreOffice suites.

According to General Camillo Sileo, this project started as an impact assessment that included briefings to the staff, training the trainers, and IT representatives. He adds that people are enthusiastic and helpful regarding this migration.

In another recent mass-migration to open source software, the Italian city Vicenza announced that it’s planning to replace Microsoft Windows OS by a Linux distro Zorin OS.
